Played Sterling Hills

Played Sterling Hills today. The weather was fantastic - no overcast and it wasn't too windy - I however was feeling a little overcast due to the prior evenings late night activities and lack of sleep *cough* that means you Andrea *cough*.

The front nine I was plagued with a case of ?pullitis? and was trying everything I could think of to straighten it up. Around the 14th hole I got it cured and started hitting the ball much better. The swing thought that got me together was 'the farther you want to hit it the bigger you make your follow-through'. Not sure why but that thought slowed me down and got me behind the ball and from the inside. I wish I could have started the round over at that point. I have pretty much resolved to the fact that it will take me a few rounds of playing before I see anything in the 80s and especially the 70s.

The difficulty lies with bringing my driving range game onto the course. My fathers says there are three games of golf:

Practice Golf
Social Golf
Tournament Golf

All three are completely different. With the practicing you get repetitive and can groove a good 9 iron swing to a professional level. But on the course you only get the one try with each club. In tournament golf the pressure is elevated so anything can happen and concentration is even more important.

Anyway here are the golf statistics for the round

Notes: Was playing with my father and we both landed in the same spot, I chunked my first chip because I decellerated, then hit the next one too far by over excellerating and had to two putt for my 5. My dad got up and down for his 3 - a two shot swing! He mentioned if you take it back too far your brain realizes it and puts that hesitation / decell in your swing. So make your backswing shorter than it was on your practice swings to cure this (same goes for putting).
