Joined the Tree House Golf Club

Joined the Tree House golf club and today was one of thier tournaments. I was at Brookside course number 1 in Pasadena (next door to the Rosebowl). It was one of those courses where course knowledge plays a key factor. I would hit what I thought was aperfect drive only to discover there was a lake on that side of the fairway - or that the tree will block your approach if you are on the left side, etc. I had two water balls where I hit it right where I was aiming...

Notes: Fantastic drive with the 3 wood, then a nice pitching wedge over the flag that bounced and ended and over the green about 5 feet. Little did I know about 6 feet beyond the green was the edge of a huge culvert that cuts through the course and is a lateral hazard. One of the guys in our threesome had no idea either and went over the green into it. I was very lucky to be short of the hazard by about a foot. Nice chip that almost hit the hole but went 4 feet past and I don't make putts if they are longer than two feet.

Notes: This hole was backed up (as they all turned out to be) and the group behind us watched us tee off. I hit another nice drive here real long right at the left tree line. Nothing but compliments from the golfers behind us as I left the tee. Turned out I drove through the fairway and had to punch out sideways. Wedged it up and two putted.

Notes: I'm 135 standing in the center of the fairway when disaster strikes. I push my 9 iron right of the green at the base of a very tall sand trap that I have to go over and some how stop the ball near the flag. My ball was sitting on mostly dirt with a huge spider web clump of kikuyu grass under it - kind of in a hole. Anyway I chunked it into the trap then hit a pretty good bunker shot to 10 feet past the hole. Missread the break and left a side hill three footer. Missed the three footer by about 8 inches. I walked up and tapped the ball in but it lipped out - I missed an 8 inch putt

Dropped, wedged up and two putted.

My score might be bad but I am actually playing pretty well and am still having lots of fun and looking forward to starting over on the next nine.

Notes: And the saga continues.... I pushed my seven iron into a tall bunker taller than me with my ball on the downslope just a few inches away from the grass. I splashed it up into the face of the bunker and it rolled back to the flat spot. One of the other guys in the group was also in this bunker but I was still away. I splashed again but it was a poor shot and left me in the bunker again. The other guy went and hit the lip and the ball rolled back to his feet. He hit again and got out. I then hit my third attempt and got out. On in 4 and two putted!

Notes: I have to admit there was a little anger in my next swing and I pulled my drive into the treeline. I landed in the fairway trap intended for the adjacent hole. I did a 4 iron punch real nice to get back into the fairway. Pitched a little too strong and over the green Chipped back to 5 feet and missed.

Notes: Hole was backed up and we watched the group infront of us tee off. There was a closest to the pin marker about 8 feet from the hole. Guy #2 hits it stiff to 7 feet! Then Guy #3 hits one right on top of him and bounces forward to 6 feet. Fun STuff!

When the green clears, I have the honors and I hit a perfect 8 iron to 4 feet right below the hole . Guy #2 in our group then hits one stiff to 4 feet left of the hole! Guy #3 in our group then hits one 2 feet above the hole to grab the KP! The group behind asked if the three of us could hit for them. Guy number two and I were both right at 4 feet and I volunteered to putt first saying 'okay lets get three birdies.' I made my putt and the other guys say 'that's one!' Unfortunatly, they both missed thier putts but it was a fun hole

Dropped and hit 3iron into the greenside trap. Having had three swings in the last greenside trap I was in I was well rehearsed and hit it to about 3 feet and made the putt!
