Ball Position

I hit a second bucket today with just the driver. I decided to swing smooth and try to hit it at 50% power until I grooved something straight. Turns out a 50% swing is less accurate than ever. I have no 80% swing much less a 50% swing with the driver. It is a lot like how I drive my car - pedal to the metal or slamming on the breaks - you don't want to be a passenger if I am driving a golf cart...Then I struck gold.

By swinging so slow I realized the only way to hit the ball reasonably well was to stay well behind it. I decided to move the ball forward in my stance about 3 inches and boom - straight as an arrow. Swing easy, swing as hard as I can, and everything in between was an acceptable drive. I think moving the ball forward gives the clubface a little longer to square up. Plus I know when I am tired I tend to shift a little laterally towards the target and this gives me a little more room. I ended up not finishing the bucket with the driver because it was as good as I could ever expect.

Now I can't wait to get out there an play again. The ball is just inside my left toe.
