Golf Trophy

Played in a four man scramble at Sunset Hills Country Club and tied for first place! We shot an incredible 59! They did a card off and we ended up getting the second place trophy. I was the D player of the group but had my "A game" all day, especially with my driver and putter. It was a charity tournament for a local Christian School.

Golf Trophy

With my mad photography skillz you can barely see the trophy. Here is what it says

Second Place
Low Gross
Newbury Park
Adventists Academy
11th Annual
Fall Classic Golf
Tournament
2004

Here is the strategy for a scramble:

Before the scramble, no need to practice chipping- it usually all comes down to putting so practice a whole bunch of 10 to 12 footers - and don't leave any of them short.
If you are the big hitter of the group try not to get out of synch by trying to be the hero. That messes up the rest of your game. Your normal drive will be big enough. Same goes with the rest of the group - no need to overswing off the tee.
Off the tee have the shortest hitter go first to get something in play.
In the fairway have your weakest player go first with an emphasis on just getting on the green - aim for the center of every green. That will give the others the chance to go at the sucker pins they always have at these things since a two putt is virtually assured in a scramble.
On the green have your worst putter go first and your best putter go last. Unless someone has a chance at making a natural birdie it might be fun to let them try and make it. On the green when everyone is reading the break and decides it goes a few inches left have your first putter try that line. If the ball broke more or less - trust what the ball did, not what you see. Unless the first putter didn't hit a solid putt trust the line that ball took over what you saw when it is your turn - don't say to yourself "well I know mine won't break 9 inches...
Scrambles usually have a "2 tee shots per person" rule. Birdies are the priority on the front nine. Don't worry about someone not having enough tee shots until later. It is better to get a bunch of birdies and forcing someone to tee off with a five iron than locking in every players' tee shots and settling for pars.
