Leading Edge

Leading Edge - This is the corner of the clubface where the bottom, the front, and the sole meet. This is what you look at when addressing the ball to line the club up perpendicular with your target line. Some clubs have scoring lines to help with alignment because often the leading edge is curved to help the club face get through the grass.

If you have ever seen a soft golf ball with a smile shaped tear in it, that means someone hit the ball with the leading edge instead of the club face. With the Surlyn covered balls they have now, you don?t see these scar marks as much as you used to but you can still feel it when you hit a ball that thin.
