Los Robles Greens Golf Course (Blue Tees)RATING: 68.7 SLOPE: 131.03
Phone Number: (805) 495 6421 This is one of my favorite golf courses. When I first took up the game, I would play here every Friday and it was the first course I got to know. I could picture every hole when remembering a round. I once shot two over here and that is still my number to beat. Known for the giant oak trees that line its fairways and guard many of its undulating greens. Originally designed in 1963 as a par 71 by Bob Baldock, the course was redesigned ten years later to a par 69 by Billy Bell. Bell moved six of the original holes from the east side of the 101 Freeway, integrating all 18 holes onto the freeway's west side. Now, after almost 30 years, Los Robles has again been improved; this time by designer, Steve Halsey. This newest and most impressive makeover includes a new irrigation and drainage system, additional lakes, bunkers and hills (to improve seclusion), new tee boxes and greens, and a new, elegantly designed clubhouse and banquet facility (with bar and grill). A new on-course snack bar resides at the 8th hole, refreshing players while moving play along. Play into some of the holes takes the golfer far above the valley floor for some spectacular views of the course and the City of Thousand Oaks. The course offers four sets of tees ranging from 5206 yards to 6274 yards giving everyone a chance with different levels of skills to enjoy themselves. The course property sits on 111 acres stretching up into the forested foothills. Rabbit, deer, raccoon, squirrel, owl, hawk, heron, duck and geese; all lend a majestic feel to the scenic course. Elevated tees, sweeping fairways, and lush grounds keeping also charm the senses. Valley Oak, Coast Live Oak, Poplar, Eucalyptus, Pine, Black Acacia, Pepper, and many other species of trees, shrubs and flowers populate the fairways and hillsides. The manicured greens are large and undulating, and are designed to USGA specifications. The well-kept Kukuya grass fairways vary in width and formation to challenge the most demanding golfer. A well-stocked pro-shop helps to outfit golfers young and old. The well-marked driving range covers eight acres and can accommodate up to 26 golfers at one time. PGA teaching professionals are available on staff.
