I set up a MySpace thingy

This post is not golf related so here is the short version:

I put up a myspace page:

myspace.com/eatgolf

Are any of you on myspace? If so what do you do there?

Here is a longer version if I didn't lose you at hello:

After all the buzz about The Golf Space, which I like and check daily, I decided to backtrack a little and get accounts for Eat at some of the many mainstream web space sites.

The first webspace site is of course this Myspace that we keep hearing about in the news.. So I signed up and put up a simple page about Eat Golf. But, I'm still just figuring out what you're supposed to do over there and not sure that I even get it. At thegolfspace there is the blogs section, and peoples' scores, and golf pictures, chat, stuff to see. I did figure out today that myspace has "groups" which are similar to miniature forums. and there are lots of golf groups so that looks encouraging.

But the main part of myspace so far is every myspace user has a comment area - and here is the deal: You can only make a comment somewhere if you are a "friend" of that user. So you somehow find people with similar interests and if you want to comment and say hello you have to first ask the user to add you as a friend. Once they accept you, they can add comments on your page, and you can comment on their page. So I guess the whole deal is that the more friends you have the more unlocked myspace is to you.

If any of you are on myspace or if you want to see the Eat Golf page it's myspace.com/eatgolf

And here are some other "spaces" I've recently signed up for: orkut.com/Profile.aspx?uid=11979628899033729211
tagworld.com/eatgolf
and obviously thegolfspace.com/eatgolf

Am I missing any others - are there any other space type sites I should get in on? Social networking web 2.0 or whatever the buzz word type sites? What sites are you on? Oh yeah, I'm also flickr.com/photos/eatgolf and have a cafepress.com account somewhere. A youtube.com/profile?user=eatgolf, a digg.com/users/eatgolf, and a brand new today google.com/coop/profile?user=009956772983225407781 - holy cow, with all these free websites, you really could spend all day on the net if you're not careful :)

This part missed the cut to even make the long version:

I opened an account with myspace way back in the day to post a link to some pictures this local band had me take of a concert they did in some dive bar on the Sunset Strip. This was shortly after I got my first "digital camera" (July 2004). I thought it was crazy that I had to join myspace just to post a link to the pictures and even then the band had to accept me as a friend before I could tell them where all the pictures were ... what a stupid hassle. I tried to explain to the band how they could get their own band-at-a.com website but it was deer in the headlights.

Not knowing what myspace would become, I signed up with my standard compulsory registration email (eat@joes.com) and used some random password that there is no way I can remember to create the myspace account to post those pictures. Wish I had that super low numbered myspace account now though :)

You should have seen me at such a hard core rock concert in Hollywood BTW - Ashworth golf shirt, slacks, polished dress shoes, matching belt, probably a golf sweater vest, clean cut, tatooless, no piercings...

myspace tom When you sign up at myspace, the inventor / guy that sold myspace.com for 600 million dollars to Rupert Murdock - that's Tom - he is automatically added as your first friend when you sign up. Everybody has as their first friend a guy named Tom. So I went to his myspace.com/tom page and said "thanks for the add" (implying that I requested him to be my friend). Thought it was funny but then again I thought it was funny when I filled out the invite form on thegolfspace.com and sent it to Tony inviting him to join TGS (Tony runs TGS).

My "thanks for the add" comment never showed up on myspace.com/tom - his comments get moderated :)

Lost a comment just now - damn... sorry - it totally got vapoorized before anyone saw it including me... :(

Comments are now working again... and they now work on the previous post about videos.. uch.. I made a mistake -my fault..
