Prank Season for Golf Bloggers

Look at what is in position A on Mediaguru's blog :)

No: Media is not announcing a hostile takeover bid of Eat Golf in his ascent towards the world's best golf blog. It is just a prank.

See, the other day, while I was gathering pictures for a post about my camera; for some reason, for the fun of it, I decided to FAKE a golf course wildlife picture... I ended up looking up an old post of media's where he had a photo of himself and Jack Nicklaus. I then got a picture of an eagle (since all of us golfers love eagles) and did a quick headswap photoshopping his face onto the eagle and posted it at the bottom of all the other legit bird pictures as a joke - a little devious just to stir the pot but really no big deal. Now that I think of it, it might have been funnier if I replaced Media's face with the eagle's face and had that morph standing next to Jack - oh man, that WOULD have been funnier - don't tell anybody - I'll do it soon...

Anyway, I go to Media's site today and in retaliation he has his normal big time website logo display for like ten seconds and then flash this one that looks like Eat Golf except it says HOOKED ON GOLF BLOG.

Mad props to Mediaguru; he really got me. When I saw that at his Blog I first thought that I had too many browsers open and the background was lagging and my computer was maxing out on memory - and then I thought I was seeing stuff and actually took my glasses off and rubbed my eyes - put them back on and it was all ok - for a moment - then it flashed back again. Clever. I couldn't stop laughing once I knew what was happening.

For me, seeing the Eat Golf logo spelling out hooked on golf blog is like trying to figure out what color these words are:

Real odd. Like if someone wrote Pepsi on a Coca-Cola logo. Your brain has seen that logo so many times you don't have to read it but with the switch your eyes are telling you that you do have to read it. That is how it is for me with the Eat Golf logo - I've seen that logo a kabillion times. Looking at his version of my logo, I guess the front side of my brain tries to read it as Eat Golf and the back side of my brain is saying HOGB (because it abbreviates things?) The middle brain is all Hooked on Eat? Eat hooked? Get your Eat on? Hooked on what was it again, why did I walk into this room - have you seen my glasses - oh I'm wearing them? The 90% mental side of my brain is thinking WTF is happening? And the 60% of the time it works alllll the time side is still buffering so as expected there's no real response there..

Eat Golf trivia - that ink blot in the Eat Golf logo is supposed to be a golf ball splashing into water. I just did a blurb to kind of eyeball the size but never got around to adding a golf ball or making it look anything like anything like anything splashy though. Then before I knew it the logo had stuck. When I originally made it (as sort of a placeholder - change this later type of logo) someone said that they really liked the colors so I just left it there and stuck with it. It eventually grew on me. Now, I like it too much to change it.

Back to the pranks, I guess I now have the honors. Maybe I should try picking on a different blogger next time.. hmmm there are so many good ones to choose from.

UNVERIFIED but I think there might be a subliminal message like *buy popcorn* or something spliced into one of the frames but can't tell. Go look at HOGB and see it before he takes it down

For right handed golfers I guess the front side of the brain would be the left side...

That person that said that they really liked the colors of the logo, causing me to build this entire site (30,000 webpages so far) based on those two random colors of light brown and purple - has since told me that they are colorblind and was just being polite .
