Video of my Golf Swing

Click here for a video of my golf swing

This is a large file (17 seconds long) and I don't know how to edit it down yet. (Just got the camera today) It is an .mpg file so it should just open up automatically in Windows Media Player or whatever you use to watch video clips.

This is me swinging my driver in what felt like 100 degree weather. I set my digital camera on the arm of a bench behind me and pushed the record button. I got all set up and ready to hit the ball when I notice someone was about to unknowingly walk between me and the camera so I paused and got set up again and then hit it. It was a good shot, if you look close you can see the ball leave right on the target line.

My feet are actually a little bit open but the camera angle makes it look like they are closed. Next video I'll get in a spot where there are no shadows.

It is very odd looking at yourself swing a golf club on video but very cool and proved to be big eye opener for me. Overall I am happy and think I have a fairly decent swing. I do notice right off some needed corrections.

First, my right leg looks too bent at set up and during the back swing. After all, I am not on a surfboard - I think I need to firm up that right side so I can make a full shoulder turn. I will change my set-up from now on to eliminate this.

Second, my shoulders and upper arms seem to be all scrunched together at address. I don't know what the implications of that is but it does not look like the best posture for an athletic swing.

Third, I don't bring the club all the way to parallel.

Fourth, at impact I am all hunchback looking - what is up with that (had to pause it to notice). I think it is because I didn't start from the ground up and turn my waist out of the way to give me room for the swing.

Once again I am very pleased with what I see and don't think I would have ever noticed this stuff without seeing for myself on the video. You all must have, or know someone with a video camera - get a swing of yours on film and look at it in slow motion. That would probably be the best way for rapid improvement for anyone.
